Qi Ma received his B.Eng. degree in Computer Science from Nankai University in June 2024. He is currently a second-year Phd student at Tianjin Key Laboratory of Visual Computing and Intelligent Perception (VCIP, the lab is lead by Prof. Ming-Ming Cheng), Nankai University, advised by Prof. Deng-Ping Fan.

Research Interests

My research focuses on generalizable and self-improving machine learning systems. In particular, I study model behavior from a meso-level perspective, analyzing the intermediate structures and dynamics that emerge during adaptation, and leveraging these insights to guide models toward recursive self-improvement and robust generalization.

I am broadly interested in generalization, machine learning, recursive self-improvement, and interpretable model analysis.
